26th March - With just a month to go before the Virgin London Marathon 2010 we organised a get together for Sentebale's runners. All of our runners gathered to meet other members of the team and Sentebale's Patrons. Training tips and fundraising ideas were exchanged as the runners prepare for the gruelling 26.2 mile run.
Prince Seeiso spoke to all the runners, thanking them for their support and letting them know how the money that they raise will make such a difference to so many of Lesotho's orphans and vulnerable children.
Prince Harry also met the runners and the team gathered together with Sentebale's Patrons for a team photo. It was a great opportunity for the team to get together and for Prince Seeiso and Prince Harry to thank the runners personally for their support of Sentebale.
In a message of support to the runners Prince Harry said:
Thank you for supporting Sentebale. Running the London Marathon is a truly awesome undertaking. That you are doing it for Sentebale makes me feel very humble and incredibly grateful. Sentebale works tirelessly to improve the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and orphans in Lesotho. I am immensely proud of everything the charity has achieved. However, there is still so much work to do. And it is only with your help that we can bring hope of a brighter future to the deserving children of Lesotho.
Prince Seeiso said:
I am incredibly grateful to you for braving the London Marathon on behalf of Lesotho's children. Support like yours makes Sentebale's work, transforming the lives of Lesotho's orphans and vulnerable children possible, and on their behalf we are incredibly thankful.
The London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet. Over £450 million has been raised for good causes since it began in 1981 and we are really excited about being part of the 2010 marathon.
