Sentebale have installed two new classrooms at Phelisanong. Two pre-built classrooms from Kwikbuild were donated to Sentebale, which we have installed at this school and centre for children with disabilities. The Centre was in dire need of more classroom space as they only had a few dilapidated units and overcrowding was a problem.
These new rooms are of a very high standard; they have electricity and wheelchair ramps are being installed so that the children in wheelchairs can access them easily. 40 children can sit comfortably in the rooms at small double desks, creating a productive working environment for the children.
The Sentebale team worked closely with Phelisanong Founder 'Me Mamello with installing the classrooms, ensuring that they were located to fit in with the development of the Centre.
There was a ceremony to celebrate the opening of the classrooms with singing, dancing and some of the children recited poetry as a way of thanks.
Sentebale would like to thank Lonrho Africa for generously donating the classrooms.
