Kick 4 Life
Kick 4 Life is a new charity who offer a football based prevention, testing and counselling programme for children across Lesotho. They are currently based at the Sentebale offices in Maseru, and we plan to support 100 of their sports scholarships.
K4L uses football to get large numbers of children tested for HIV as part of their 'Test your Team' initiative. This focuses on prevention and quicker treatment for HIV for the children. Football tournaments and activities are organised with HIV education, testing and counselling offered as well as basic health screening and vaccinations on site. Children who are found to be positive are immediately linked to an ARV clinic for further evaluation, treatment and care.
Nationwide football groups with coaches and mentors are also run, where through tournaments and coaching, children are made aware of the need to change behaviour to halt the spread of HIV as well as getting tested.
Sentebale nominated K4L for the Best Performing HIV/AIDS Implementing Partner with the Lesotho National AIDS Commission which we are pleased to report they were awarded.
