Pioneering new map of Lesotho launched on Letsema website

The Letsema website now hosts an interactive map of Lesotho showing the locations of organisations, projects, hospitals, clinics, airfields and secondary schools.

The purpose of the map is to show who is doing what work and where, while also mapping important services and facilities. With a focus on OVC care, stakeholders' locations are mapped and their project details are listed.

This is a ground breaking step in creating a clear picture of service providers in Lesotho. The aim is that the Letsema website and its map will increase collaborative and effective work in the OVC sector; making sure that aid and support reaches the right places.

The map features both a map and satellite view of Lesotho. On the Google 'map' view you can see roads, rivers and district boundaries, whilst on the 'satellite' map you can zoom in and out of chosen locations. The zoom is so powerful that you can even see villages and airstrips!

The Letsema map is a work in progress and there is a team in Lesotho who are constantly updating the information featured on the site. The more information you provide, the more accurate and comprehensive the site will be, so please do contact the team (details below).

Monthly Letsema meetings are being held for those working with OVC in Lesotho in the last week of each month at UN House. Future developments are being discussed here and we are already exploring how to develop and upgrade the map and the website. If you would like to attend these meetings, or receive the quarterly Letsema Newsletters, please contact Katrine Musgrave.

The launch of the map comes as an agreement for funding has been signed with UNICEF and we are looking forward to a dynamic new phase in the Letsema initiative.
