Building starts at new LCCU refuge

The Lesotho Child Counselling Unit plans to expand the number of abused and traumatized children they care for by opening a new purpose-built home run by resident house mothers.

The new facility started life when LCCU head, Lydia Muso, bought a block of land a short distance away from her home on the outskirts of Mazenod.

Through the generosity of Lesotho's Standard Bank building started, but then came to a halt due to the lack of a project manager.

Sentebale has stepped in to help and has put Lydia in touch with UK charity Architects for Aid.

Two architects arrived in March 2007 to get the project back on track. With the help of their newly completed drawings the building work was put out to tender again.

One of the architects, Pedro Clarke, has volunteered to return for 3 months to see the project through. Follow his progress on his personal blog .
