Sentebale chosen to benefit from Hunger Campaign

We are delighted to announce that Sentebale have been chosen by WHY (World Hunger Year, Inc.) as a partner for Hard Rock International's Imagine There's No Hunger Campaign 2009/10.
WHY is dedicated to fighting the root causes of hunger and poverty by supporting grassroots organisations that create self-reliance, economic justice and equal access to nutritious and affordable food. For more information please visit www.whyhunger.org.

Hard Rock International has a total of 157 venues in 53 countries. It has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world since its foundation in 1971.

For its 2009/10 global IMAGINE THERE'S NO HUNGER campaign to benefit WHY, Hard Rock International is teaming up with several top musicians and bands. The campaign kicked off at Hard Rock Cafe New York on 9th November 2009 with a star-studded Benefit Concert and will be coming to the UK on the 1st December for its London launch at Hard Rock Café. For the campaign Hard Rock International is teaming up with several top musicians and bands including this years global artist ambassador the band O.A.R.

The event also launches Hard Rock International's SERVE4 digital album, a project dedicated to serving those in need. Hard Rock is donating 100% of net proceeds from SERVE4, additional “Imagine Theres No Hunger” merchandise, and the kick-off event at Hard Rock Cafe New York to WHY. This will help its grassroots partners around the globe that have developed ways to feed children worldwide who are victims of poverty and also teach them farming and entrepreneurial skills for the future.

Nutrition is a key issue for Sentebale in helping Lesotho's children. The country's extreme poverty and chronic malnutrition affects their ability to resist diseases such as TB and HIV/AIDS which are overwhelming the country. Sentebale has been funding better nutrition for the children in the care of our partners, as well as supplying them with extra nutritional supplements and working with a volunteer nutritionist.

This support from WHY and Hard Rock International will be a great boost to Sentebale's work and will help us to develop and expand our nutritional support to Lesotho's children in the future.
