Fire at Lesotho Child Counselling Unit

Lydia's home which she shared with up to 15 children - before the fire.

Just before Easter disaster struck when the LCCU's Director and the 15 children she had in her care lost their home.

Lydia's house was burnt to the ground. Luckily all the kids living there escaped safely. But all of Lydia's and the children's possessions were destroyed.

Lydia's mother's house is providing temporary refuge.

With Sentebale's backing, Architects for Aid have drawn up plans to turn the burnt out building into a temporary sleeping place until the new LCCU facility is completed - hopefully in the middle of this year.

4 building students from the Polytechnic in Maseru have volunteered to help in the urgent task of making Lydia's home habitable again. You can read about progress on this and the LCCU's new safe house under construction on the architect's personal blog.
