Mants'ase Children's Home is a residential home for 50 orphans and abandoned children from ages two up to 18. The home has been in existence since 1979 and is the only children's home and care facility in the south of Lesotho.

To date the local community, especially local businesses, have provided most of the resources needed to operate the home and care for the children including schooling costs.

Sentebale assisted with some of the running costs during 2007, and previously have donated funds for a dormitory and dining room. We continue to support them with recurring running costs, and support management to help with running of the home, extra school and homework and agriculture and vocational training.

The children are involved in a new programme of after school activities and holistic care services are due to start soon. HIV testing is carried out every three months with three children currently receiving anti-retroviral therapy (ART). There is a new farm hand working here, and 400 chickens and a thriving new vegetable garden to help feed the children and staff.

Sentebale are now funding an experienced General Manager who is implementing an agreed development plan on behalf of the Board.
