Kick 4 Life
Kick 4 Life uses sport to engage youth in tackling poverty and disease in Lesotho. They empower young people, encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and avoid the risk of contracting HIV/AIDS through nationwide football groups with coaches and mentors on site.
Kick 4 Life also run days where they test young people for HIV/AIDS, subsequently offering counselling and putting those tested in touch with the relevant support networks.
The “Test your Team” initiative focuses on preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS as well as quicker treatment for those children diagnosed as HIV positive. Under this scheme Kick 4 Life hosts football tournaments with activities to encourage awareness and HIV/AIDS education. Testing, counselling, basic health screening and vaccinations are also on site. Young people diagnosed as HIV positive are immediately put in touch with an Anti-Retroviral Treatment Clinic for further evaluation, treatment and care.
Sentebale has played a key role in establishing Kick 4 Life providing initial office space and now funds scholarships for HIV positive children in their programme.
