Co-operative Working - Letsema

Because we recognise we are but one small organisation in a sea of need, we intend devoting considerable energy to collaborating in our work and sharing what we and our partners learn.

The needs posed by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and its impact on the lives of children is immense. A sustainable solution will require more than any one organization's individual effort.

Sentebale is committed to collaboration with all aid providers in Lesotho - whether major international grant-makers, smaller NGOs, local service providers or government.

We have already begun to do this by putting Lesotho community organisations in touch with other appropriate international NGOs such as Architects for Aid, the Hole in the Wall camps, the Clinton Foundation, Hope HIV, UNICEF, the Bethany Trust and more.

We are now in the process of formalising this networking approach to improve delivery with our Letsema project. Letsema is a word in the Lesotho language, Sesotho, meaning cooperative working.

The recently launched Letsema website maps essential details of who does what, where in Lesotho.

The website now hosts an interactive map of Lesotho showing the locations of organisations, projects, hospitals, clinics, airfields and secondary schools.

The purpose of the map is to show who is doing what work and where, while also mapping important services and facilities. With a focus on OVC care, stakeholders' locations are mapped and their project details are listed.

An agreement for funding for Letsema has recently been signed with Unicef and in the future there are plans for all Global Fund Country Coordinating information to be available through the Letsema website.

To read more about this launch read our news story and view the map yourself on the website.

How can I get involved?

If you are a Lesotho service provider please help us to help you. We need as much detailed information about activity on the ground as you can provide. You can submit your organisations information through the website or email us at info@sentebale.org with your details.

Monthly Letsema meetings are being held for those working with OVC in Lesotho in the last week of each month at UN House.
