Sentebale funding in Lesotho...
Sentebale works through partner organisations in Lesotho - these are community projects for vulnerable children and young people, which have the potential to do outstanding work and really make a difference.

Not only does Sentebale provide financial help to partners in Lesotho, but we also offer training and support for the management and daily running of partner projects. All the partner projects are tied to a business plan and will be carefully monitored and evaluated to check that the work of each project is as effective and sustainable as possible.

Volunteering for Sentebale in Lesotho...
I'm afraid that currently we do not have any volunteer opportunities. However, if you would like to receive information on developments like this at Sentebale, please register for our updates.

In the meantime, you might want to look at World Service Enquiry's website [www.wse.org.uk].  They produce a guide which lists over 300 organisations offering voluntary positions [http://www.wse.org.uk/guides/2004Guide.pdf] - they can mail you the latest edition, which costs £5.  Although the organisations are not individually vetted, WSE does follow up on feedback from volunteers when compiling the directory.

If you would like to look further into volunteering, WSE have recommended that you visit www.idealist.org or www.devdir.org.  The Development Directory have produced country guides which list the development organisations working in each country, and if you are particularly keen to work in Lesotho you could take a look at http://www.devdir.org/files/Lesotho.PDF, but please note that we have not vetted these organisations at all.

If you are aged 18-25, VSO offer voluntary youth projects in different countries around the world, which run for six to twelve months.  If you would like to find out more about VSO, you could visit their website at www.vso.org.uk, and if you would like more information on youth projects, Phil Hanks at VSO has very kindly said that you can call him on 020 8780 7670.

Direct Debits and Regular Gifts...
By arranging a regular gift, you are helping Sentebale to plan its work with orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho. If we know that we can rely on your very kind donation coming in, we can commit with certainty to helping more of the incredibly worthwhile projects in Lesotho fighting the effects of HIV/AIDS. Please visit our Donations page, which is under How To Help on the left for a form and more information on gift aid and donations.

Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, Sentebale can reclaim 28p on every pound you give us with no extra cost to you. However, you do need to pay enough tax to cover your Gift Aid - for example, if you want Sentebale to reclaim £28 on a donation of £100, you must pay at least £28 in income or capital gains tax during that tax year. For us to be able to do this please download and print the pdf page below, fill out the form and enclose it with your donation: Gift aid PDF

Donations to Sentebale from outside the UK...
If you would like to make a donation from outside the UK, we would very gratefully accept cheques made payable to "Sentebale", and posted to Grande House, Park Place, London, SW1A 1LP

Alternatively we have a donations line for credit card or debit card donations, which is +44 207 499 9667 from outside the UK (standard international call charges apply).

Sending provisions and clothes to Lesotho...
Although it can be very rewarding to collect together things that might be essential to orphans and vulnerable children in Lesotho, and transport them directly to the projects on the ground, this is not always the most effective way of helping local communities. Buying locally saves on transport costs and keeps the local economy going, so Sentebale would very much like to encourage supporters to fundraise at home and watch the website to see where their very kind donations have gone and what Sentebale has achieved with them.

It is also possible to earmark donations collected through fundraising for a specific project or a specific type of project. All the projects supported by Sentebale help orphans and vulnerable children, but they often also deal with specific issues such as supporting disabled or abused children in Lesotho, or they might employ specific methods of supporting the children, such as residential care or sports. If you would like more details on this please email Sentebale at info@sentebale.org

Applying for a Grant...
We are sorry to say that we will only be funding the projects in Lesotho which our team in Lesotho recommend after extensive on the ground research and reconnaissance. If you would like to know more about the criteria we use to assess projects please see the How We Work section.

However, please do let us know about any children's projects you would like supported and we will most certainly pass on the information to the team in Lesotho for assessment. Alternatively the Sentebale team may know of another aid organization who might be better suited to supporting your project. We are committed to assisting all those working for the benefit of Lesotho to co-ordinate and collaborate in the delivery of aid.
