Sentebale's work starts with the funding instead of ending there.
We maintain a close working relationship with the organisations that we fund, building trust with the people and organisations in which we have invested. We aspire to be a combination of strategic advisor, executive coach, funder, trustee and management consultant.
Developing the governance of these organisations is important to us - this may mean that Sentebale takes a place on the board of governors or trustees of the organisation being funded.
Sustainability
We hope that the projects we fund will become models for other projects which can be rolled out across Lesotho or that they can be used as scaleable solutions that can be used by government or other large-scale funders.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Sentebale monitors and audits its partners on an ongoing basis to ensure accountability. We expect measurable targets and analysis of outcomes from all those we work with. We will help organisations to develop monitoring and evaluation systems where necessary, in part to attract further funding from other organisations.
Sentebale is specific about the outcomes we seek from each Partner, Programme, Project or Initiative in terms of impact on improving the lives of children. These are built into the contract and business plan for each type of contract.
We want individual care plans as an approach where this is relevant. We do not simply seek to measure and report inputs to projects or programmes such as expenditure or throughput - number of children seen. We want partners and programmes to measure change in the children over time to demonstrate that the money is achieving results. We want to measure individuals as well as community benefits.
