PRINCIPLES UPHELD BY SENTEBALE ON SERVING CHILDREN:

UN Convention on the Rights of Children
From the office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, these are the terms agreed for the Convention. They take into consideration that in countries all over the world children are living in difficult conditions and thus need special consideration. The importance of international co-operation is emphasised.

Unicef on the Convention on the Rights of Children
UNICEF's mission is to advocate the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. UNICEF is guided in doing this by the provisions and principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Committee on the Rights of Child
The Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is the body of independent experts that monitor the Convention on the Rights of the Child by state parties. All States parties are obliged to submit regular reports to the Committee on how the rights are being implemented, and States must report initially two years after acceding to the Convention and then every five years.
