Sentebale is a word used in Sesotho, the language of Lesotho. It means forget me not.
Sentebale was chosen as the name of the charity because the two Princes see its work as a memorial to the charity work of their own mothers.
In Lesotho, Sentebale is also the name of the small blue forget me not flower.

The name also reminds us never to forget:
- The children and young people of Lesotho who live with the consequences of the deaths of their parents and who represent the future of their country.
- Lesotho, which is sometimes known as the forgotten kingdom because many people do not know where it is, and which is often not properly marked on maps of Southern Africa.
- The HIV/AIDS pandemic, which continues to devastate not just Lesotho but many parts fo the world.
